Community Problem Solvers of Meadow Elementary School

We are the Community Problem Solvers of Meadow Elementary School. The purpose of the Community Problem Solvers program is for students to identify an area of concern in their community, brainstorm ways to solve the problem, and execute a plan of action. This year, our team has identified the access and use of social media by elementary students as the area of concern. Currently, our goals for our project are to:

• Educate elementary students on how to safely use social media.
• Educate parents on how they can help their children navigate social media safely.

So far, our team has surveyed all 3rd to 5th grade students at our school. We found that 49% of students use social media for more than an hour a day! After speaking with our principals, we found out that there has also been an increase in issues regarding access and use of social media that have been brought to their attention.
